BULGARIA U21

the campaign so far

Goals from Martin Minchev and Mitkov Mitko handed Bulgaria an impressive start to Group E as the side claimed a 2-0 victory in Moldova back in September, but suffered a 4-0 defeat against Cymru as Jack Vale made headlines for the visitors with a superb hat-trick in Sofia.

Switzerland were the next visitors to Sofia a few days later, but a solitary goal from Kastriot Imeri was enough for the visitors to claim a 1-0 win. Bulgaria then took the lead against the Netherlands in their next match in Almere, but the home side responded with goals from Ian Maatsen and a brace from Joshua Zerkzee to earn the home side a 3-1 victory. Bulgaria returned to Sofia for their sixth match of the campaign in November but were held to a 0-0 draw against Moldova, despite the visitors being reduced to ten men.
