Romania U21 2-1 Cymru U21

Geraint Williams' Cymru were undefeated after six games in this Group 5 qualifying campaign as the side headed to Medias on the back of a 0-0 draw away to Bulgaria.

However, the side struggled to find the form that had seen them challenge at the top of the standings as Robert Hodorogea handed Romania the lead just before half-time. Alexandru Ioniță then scored what would prove to the decisive goal after 58 minutes as he doubled the advantage for the home side. An injury time goal from substitute Jake Charles would be too little too late for the visitors as Romania claimed maximum points, while Cymru would eventually finish fourth in the final group standings.

Cymru U21 XI: O'Brien, Yorwerth, Lockyer, Jones, O'Sullivan, J.Evans, L. Evans, Sheehan, Hedges, Harrison, Burns.

Subs: Crowe, Charles, Weeks, Roberts, Smith, Wharton.
