Switzerland U21

Switzerland have qualified for the finals of the UEFA U21 Championships on four occasions, with their best performance coming a decade ago in 2011 as the side managed by Pierluigi Tami reached the final but suffered a 2-0 defeat to Spain.

This is the 24th U21 qualifying campaign that Switzerland have taken part in, and they qualified for the first time in 2002 as group winners. Switzerland would also host the U21 finals that year, and finished runners-up in their group despite facing the difficult challenge of Italy, England and Portugal. However, the side would suffer a 2-0 defeat to France in Basel at the semi-final stage.

The side again qualified for the finals in 2004 but struggled in their group and failed to win a single match with defeats to Germany and Sweden coming either side of a 2-2 draw with Portugal. Following their run to the final in 2011, the side would not qualify for the finals again until 2021 when the tournament took place in Slovenia and Hungary earlier this year. Despite claiming an impressive 1-0 win over England in their opening match through a goal from Dan Ndoye, defeats to Croatia and Portugal meant that Switzerland would not make it past the group stage.
